CALAMBA STEEL CENTER, INC. is a steel service center that slits, levels, shears and re-shears flat steel
HISTORY:
- The original company, JS Steel Corporation was incorporated on Oct – 1989 as a joint – venture between Sumitomo Corporation and Jacinto Group.
- Plant operation at the factory in Novaliches, Quezon City commenced on Dec – 1990 and from then on achieved market leadership.
- On Aug – 1994, JS Steel Cebu Corporation was incorporated at Mactan EPZA to expand operations in the Cebu manufacturing hub.
- In yet another expansion program, a new and bigger factory was constructed in Calamba, Laguna on Sept – 1998.
- On Jul – 2000, the factory and office at Novaliches, Quezon City was transferred to Calamba, Laguna.
- On Mar – 2001, Sumitomo Corporation bought all of the shareholdings of Jacinto Group. The company was consequently reorganized under the new name “Calamba Steel Center, Inc.” on Jun – 2001. The Cebu factory was also re-named as “Mactan Steel Center, Inc.” on Jul – 2001.
- On Mar – 2002, Calamba Steel Center, Inc. and Mactan Steel Center, Inc. were reorganized under a new holding company which was United Steel Center Manila, Inc. composed of 90% Sumitomo Corporation and 10% Mitsui & Co. Ltd.
- On Nov – 2008, Calamba Steel Center, Inc. was merged with United Steel Center Manila, Inc. with the former being the surviving entity. Mactan Steel Center, Inc. became a subsidiary of Calamba Steel Center, Inc.
